Now i know many of you would say that you can already do this. Well, yes you can but you have to use different programs to get the dock, the icons etc.
Now you can get all this one free program and more.!!
My friend at school has just installed it and it looks awesome.! It takes about 5 minutes at about 300kb/s. Its not to big and best of all it is free!!
It is called Flyakite OS X and is a transformation pack for windows xp. It is 30mb and is designed to make the windows xp desktop and computer look like Mac OS X Tiger (they have not released a leopard update).
This is one of the screenshots. However, beware that this file alters crucial files and it could go wrong.
I recently saw on another blog that many people are struggling over which to get as a media hub. The mac mini or Apple TV???
Well here is my opinion......
I think that the Mac mini would be a better choice. Although it is much more expensive it comes with some bonuses which i would find much more useful.
The optical drive which allows DVDs and CDs to be played is a big decider... Apple TV doesn't have a optical drive!!!!!! The extra 20 gb that comes with the standard mac mini can store a lot more music and quite a few videos and films!!! The actual function of a computer in the mac mini allows the use of the internet and the full use of the Mac OS X Leopard!!!!!! With a few adaptors at the back you could use your television as the monitor and it would be great!!! The 1.66 ghz processor isn't great but will do for a few demanding tasks that you could perform!!!!
However, i really do no like the fact that the Mac mini has no HDMI capabilities without serious adaptations.!!! Apple TV was built with HD viewing in mind and to be able to seemlessly work with iTunes movies etc... I can see why Apple did not put HDMI into the Mac mini- because they intend for it to be used as a scaled down moderate consumer computer. and in doing this they boost the sales of Apple TV. However, everyone i know uses theres as a media hub!!!!!!
I have subscribed to a few good directors on youtube who create good, sometimes comic content regularly... usually to do with computers but not always!!!
Usernames:
sxephil- creates a new video nearly everyday highlighting bits of the world he doesn't like etc... it is quite funny sometimes and usually interesting!!!
thebluehour- usually creates Mac OS X related videos which are very informative and help loads!!! i think he was built for youtube.!
thecreativeone- usually creates computer related videos based on Mac OS X which are really informative and help very much so!!!!!
These are my latest picks and you should subscribe too!!!!!
The beautiful and sexy iMacs have recieved an upgrade from Apple!
They have scrapped the 2.0ghz model in 20 inches and have upgraded the 24 inch model to great 3.06 ghz processor with better graphics.!!!
In my opinion i think these upgrades are pretty good at the prices they are going at!!! The 3ghz+ power you could have is incredible seeming as the casing is so sleek and it is all running on laptop components!!!!
We shall look forward to more upgrades from Apple.!!
This blog will be a place where i give useful computer tips and tricks as well as help people out on their tech problems..!! I will state new releases and good videos etc. i have found on youtube..!! So keep checking!!!!
